Dear yummiSTANBULlers,
I have waited until we reached the first 100 members, which happened quicker that I thought, to send you this first message. I want to say thank you to all our members and for telling your friends about the group. I am sure there are many of you who would like to know more about yummiSTANBUL and what we are going to do.

As I wrote in the description of the group, the aim of yummiSTANBUL is to bring people together who may or may not know each other but who like to cook and enjoy trying new food. I decided to start this group after my friend, Sezen Ozgur, told me about an article she read in a magazine. Underground dinner & Ghetto Gourmet is a trend, which started in America and has spread to Europe.

As I said, people who may or may not know each other give dinner parties and announce their menus through the group’s page here on Facebook. People who would like to join a dinner come to the party with drinks and a contribution to offset the cost of the dinner.

Reading the article started me thinking about whether there were these kind of parties in Istanbul and Turkey. I was surprised that this trend hadn’t reached Istanbul before so I decided to start the network yummiSTANBUL.

So where now?

This group belongs to the people who enjoy food and who would like to expand their social network. If you would like to organize a dinner party, just announce the date, the menu and an email address through the Facebook page so that interested members can contact you. Please don’t post your phone numbers and your home address, as this is an open group. You can inform those people who reply to you and who you wish to invite sending them details through email. Don’t forget, these dinners shouldn’t be open to only those people you already know; they are also an opportunity to meet new people.

As the founder of this group, I will be organize and announce our first dinner party and the menu. I hope this will be the first of many dinner parties members of this group will host.

yummiSTANBUL'un tek amacı yemek yemeyi ve yapmayı seven, birbirini tanıyan ya da tanımayan insanları özel akşam yemeği partilerinde bir araya getirmek. Bu fikri sevgili arkadaşım Sezen Özgür'ün (çok teşekkür!) okuduğu bir haber üzerine başlatmaya karar verdim. Underground dinner / Ghetto gourmet Amerika'da başlayan ve oradan Avrupa'ya da yayılan bir akım. Dediğim gibi birbirini tanıyan / tanımayan insanlar evlerinde değişik tatların sunulduğu akşam yemeği partileri veriyorlar ve menulerini grup aracılığıyla duyuruyorlar. Katılmak isteyenler bildirip, haber verilen saat ve yerde yanlarında içecek ve biraz bozuk parayla (davet verenin masraflarına ortak çıkmak için) bu partiye geliyorlar. Okur okumaz bayıldığım ve acaba Türkiye / İstanbul'da da bu partiler var mı dediğim bu akımın İstanbul gibi bir şehirde hiç duyulmadığına şaşırarak hemen yummiSTANBUL adını verdiğim networkü kurmaya karar verdim.
Şimdi neler yapacağız ve nasıl başlıyacağız?

Bu network sadece yemek yemeyi ve yapmayı seven, sosyal hayatını daha de renklendirmek isteyen insanların! Aklına paylaşmak istediği yemek fikri gelenler yummiİSTANBUL üzerinden yemek partisinin tarihini, menusünü ve kaç kişilik olacağını bildirmeliler ve katılmak isteyenlerin kendilerinin verdiği mail adresine bir mail atmalarını da belirtmeliler. Özellikle herkesin okuduğu online ortamda adres ve telefon numarası verilmemesini rica ediyorum. Bu yüzden belirttiğiniz adrese yazan kişilere siz daha sonra belirlediğiniz kişi sayısına göre adres bilgilerini verebilirsiniz. Unutmatın bu akşam yemekleri sadece hali hazırdaki arkadaşlarınız için olmamalı. Bunun amacı değişik tatlar ve sosyal çevreyi genişletmek! Yaptığınız partilerde daha sonra grup sayfasına koymak üzere bol bol resim çekmeyi de unutmayın!

Grubu başlatan kişi olarak çok yakında ilk menu ve parti duyurusuyla herkese mesaj atacağım. Ondan sonra umarım çok sayıda kişi de buna devam edecek...
